Review: This story is extremely short at only 13 pages. I really didn’t get what was going on very well and was a bit confused in the beginning. It did finally unravel and had a happy ending. The story was ok and if you want something that only takes a few minutes to read you may like this. If you like spells, short stories, sort of dark, with a happy ending this is for you.

For me it was just OK.

Blurb: Sylvie’s more human librarian than half-blood Fae princess and she definitely prefers books to men. Then, she learns her unwanted Lykae fiancée is marrying someone else. If she doesn’t stop the wedding, the Fae will resume the border war with the Werewolf nation. A high-handed Lykae security guard blocks her every move, and when her plans go awry, she’s kidnapped, stripped, and bound for his pleasure.

Caleb the Cold, King of the Lykae, will do anything to make his younger brother’s wedding special–even pretend he’s a security guard and kidnap his brother’s former fiancée. Punishing her is pure pleasure, until he realizes she’s his mate. Now he needs to woo the woman he’s tormented to the edge of madness, but is it too late to claim her heart, and make her his?

Review: Oh my. What a story. I loved parts of it while other made me laugh with incredulity and some simply made me cringe, they were so cheesy I couldn’t stand them. A weird mix really.

Let’s start with the story shall we? We have a Fae half-blood Princess betrothed to a Lykae Prince who disregards their engagement and marries another woman while lying to his brother and King of the Lykae clans that he resolved his engagement and keeps the gold and jewelry he’s supposed to give to the Fae King for dissolving the engagement for himself.
The result of all that; War!

But the half-human half Fae Princess Silvie has other plans. She decides to attend the wedding and pretend she is ok with it so her brother won’t go on full-fledged war. She didn’t count on the Lykae King though, who believed his brothers lies of her and thought she was only a manipulative bitch who used her body and sexuality to get trinkets and gold and money.

The result of that, Locked in a tower in the otherworld and sexually “punished” until she begged to be given release…
Oh God. Really, the plot was ludicrous. I couldn’t believe what I was reading most of the times and the dialogues, good Heaven, they couldn’t be cheesier. It really plunged the entire plot down earth and had me face palm myself way too many times.

But, there were funny parts there as well and some seriously wicked bloody scenes I simply can’t ignore. Those slashing paws, blood-dripping fangs, and awesome push-kicks were simply marvelous. So much so, that if it weren’t for the dialogues and the repetition of phrases and the constant inner thoughts that drove me crazy, I’d have rated this way higher.

As it is, if you don’t mind the above I suggest you give it a shot. The erotic part of this book was intense and hot enough and the action story quite decent. I’m just too picky when it comes to the balance between romantic and overly sweet/sappy.

Blurb: His instinct is to claim her. Her instinct is to run. Will Lucien enjoy the thrill of the chase and have the satisfaction of bedding his mate?
Virginal Lanie is shocked speechless when she meets Lucien, a sexy Alpha. From the moment he sees her, Lucien knows Lanie is his mate and he will stop at nothing to make her his. Unfortunately, Lanie is terrified of her attraction to him and refuses his advances. Can Lucien seduce this scared virgin? Will Lanie fight her growing desire for Lucien or will she throw caution to the wind and give her body and her heart to a man determined to have her?

Review:  Diana Persaud gives us a short paranormal romance, in the first of her Soul Mates series, Lucien’s Mate.  This is wonderful fare for those new to the paranormal universe and a nice breath of freshness for those us who are already bloodied and/or horned. LOL

Lanie is attracted to Lucien, like she would be to any other handsome guy.  But what happens when an Alpha finds a mate and that mate is psychically deaf to them? Is that even allowed? Doesn’t an Alpha attraction automatically mean that it should work BOTH ways?

Shifter legends are not written in stone.  Writer Diana Persaud wonderfully reminds us of this by tapping into our suspension of disbelief and shaking it up a bit. I look forward to more in this series.
